1. Who We Are

The Hegemony Wars (hegemonywars.com) is a fiction reading platform for The Voidborn Chronicles. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to the site operator. You can contact us at privacy@hegemonywars.com.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide your account and reading experience:

Account data — email address, first name, last name (provided during sign-up or pulled from your social login provider with your consent).
Authentication tokens — session cookies set by Supabase to keep you signed in.
Purchase records — which books you have purchased, so we can grant you access to the appropriate content.
Reading preferences — font size, colour theme, and display settings (stored in your browser's local storage; never sent to our servers).

We do not collect payment card details. Payments are handled entirely by our payment processor (Stripe) and we never see or store your card information.

3. How We Use Your Data

To create and manage your account.
To verify which books you have purchased and grant read access.
To send transactional emails (order confirmation, email address verification). We will only send marketing emails if you explicitly opt in.
To improve the site based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns.

4. Social Login Providers

If you sign in via Google, Facebook, or X (Twitter), those services share your name and email address with us under the scopes you approve during sign-in. We store that data in your Hegemony Wars account. We do not receive your social media password or any data beyond name and email.

5. Third-Party Services

Supabase — authentication and database. Your account data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy.
Vercel — website hosting. Vercel may log standard web request metadata (IP address, user agent). Vercel Privacy Policy.
Stripe — payment processing. Card data goes directly to Stripe and is never stored by us. Stripe Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you signed in. These are strictly necessary for the service to function and do not track you across other websites. Reading preferences are stored in browser local storage and are not cookies. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records by law (e.g. purchase records for tax purposes, which are retained for 7 years).

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Deletion — request that we delete your personal data. See our Data Deletion page.
Objection — object to processing of your data for marketing purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

The Hegemony Wars is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
