TITAN MK-V Power Armour
TITAN MK-V Power Armour
Description
The TITAN MK-V is a full-body powered combat exoskeleton issued to Orion Hegemony front-line infantry. Its outer shell is composed of ceramic composite layered over reactive plating. The suit is reactor-powered, with servo-assisted musculature that amplifies the wearer's strength. External speakers allow voice projection outside the sealed helmet. The helmet integrates a HUD displaying power curve, ammunition, environmental readings, and tactical overlays.
Capabilities
- Reactor-powered servo musculature for enhanced strength and endurance
- Kinetic shielding (active energy dissipation layer)
- Integrated HUD with power curve display, targeting overlays, and squad-link feeds
- Jump jets for short burst airborne manoeuvres
- Emergency mobility mode: continues functioning at reduced capacity even when reactor is critically depleted (Chapters 13 and 17, B1)
- Emergency buoyancy bladders in the chest cavity activate automatically on water immersion (Chapter 22, B1)
- Full environmental seal with internal air recycling (filters hostile atmospheres, toxic gases, volcanic ash)
- External speaker array for voice amplification
- Manual overrides to operate individual systems when primary power fails
- Ablative ceramic layer provides heat resistance and protection against ballistic and blade impacts
- Waste recyclers handle suit interior contamination (referenced Ch.6, B2)
Weaknesses / Counters
- High power consumption, sustained combat or jump jet use depletes the reactor quickly
- When reactor fails, servos go dead; the suit becomes effectively dead weight, requiring extreme physical effort to move in (described Ch.13, B1: Draven hauled up vertical shaft in dead armour)
- Chitin mandibles can breach armour joint seals (Vos's leg severed at joint by Warrior, Ch.7/B1 implied; described Ch.5, B2)
- Weaponised Necrotide corrodes the outer plating and eventually penetrates to the environmental under-layer (Chs.15–16, B2)
- Neural psionic broadcasts (Neural Howl, Primarch contact) penetrate the suit's electronic filters and affect the wearer directly
- Certain areas (neck seal, gorget gap) remain vulnerable to blade puncture (Ch.21, B2)
Known Users
- Commander Kael Draven
- Sergeant Lira Vos
- Corporal/Lieutenant Garrick "Mauler" Thrace
- Agent Veyna Rael (stealth-modified variant)
- Standard Orion Hegemony infantry
- Voidborn 2.0 conscript battalions (carapace armour variant, see separate entry)
Key Appearances
| Event | Source |
|---|---|
| Squad drops to Caliban Prime in Hellpods; armour survives hypersonic entry | Hive Awakens, Ch.1 |
| Draven carries stasis canister through ventilation shaft in depleted armour | Hive Awakens, Ch.13 |
| Squad climbs elevator shaft in dead armour to reach Research Station Omicron roof | Hive Awakens, Ch.17 |
| Armour's buoyancy bladders save squad after shuttle sinks into glacial lake | Hive Awakens, Ch.22 |
| Squad dons captured Judicator armour (black variant) to bluff through blockade | Hive Awakens, Ch.24 |
| Armour corroded by weaponised Necrotide rain during Volcanus Prime evacuation | The Burning Frontier, Chs.15–16 |
Notes
- A distinct black-armoured variant is worn by Judicators, Valka's enforcement arm; it is visually distinct and carries biometric locks
- "Carapace armour" issued to Voidborn 2.0 conscripts is described as mass-produced, factory-fresh, and inferior to TITAN MK-V (see carapace-armour.md)
- The armour's reactor is linked to Thrace's cybernetic arm, when the reactor is dead, the arm loses power entirely (see thrace-cybernetic-arm.md)
