Thrace's Cybernetic Arm
Thrace's Cybernetic Arm
Description
Garrick "Mauler" Thrace's right arm is a full cybernetic replacement from the shoulder joint, replacing the biological limb lost in a prior engagement. The prosthetic is military-grade, reinforced with a dense titanium-alloy chassis, and integrates directly with the TITAN MK-V armour's reactor feed. The arm provides strength output substantially beyond standard servo augmentation, allowing Thrace to wield weapons and carry loads that even other TITAN-armoured soldiers cannot manage one-handed. The arm has visible seams at the shoulder integration point and the hand is capable of fine manipulation as well as crushing grip.
Capabilities
- Strength output exceeds standard TITAN MK-V servo augmentation
- Enables one-handed use of heavy weapons (rotary cannon, Titan's Wrath railgun) that other soldiers must brace or mount
- Crushing grip capable of breaching light Chitin carapace at close quarters
- Integrated into TITAN MK-V armour's reactor power feed for operational power draw
- Fine manipulation capability retained for weapon reload, equipment handling, and technical tasks
- Acts as an anchor point, Thrace uses the arm to brace, grip structural elements, and haul himself and others in zero-gravity or vertical environments
Weaknesses / Counters
- Directly dependent on the TITAN MK-V reactor; when the armour's reactor fails, the cybernetic arm loses power entirely and becomes a dead weight (confirmed Ch.13 and referenced in titan-mk-v-power-armour.md Notes)
- Shoulder integration point is a potential vulnerability, direct trauma to the mount could destabilise the limb
- No biological sensation feedback, Thrace must visually monitor grip force on fragile objects
- Cannot be repaired in the field without specialist cybernetics equipment
Known Users
- Corporal / Lieutenant Garrick "Mauler" Thrace (sole user)
Key Appearances
| Event | Source |
|---|---|
| Arm allows Thrace to carry both the rotary cannon and the Titan's Wrath simultaneously during Caliban Prime operations | Hive Awakens, multiple chapters |
| Arm loses power when Draven's TITAN reactor reaches 0% in the ventilation shaft escape | Hive Awakens, Ch.13 |
| Arm goes dead when reactor depletes during ascent of elevator shaft at Research Station Omicron | Hive Awakens, Ch.17 |
| Thrace uses crushing grip to breach a jammed blast door during Volcanus Prime evacuation | The Burning Frontier, Ch.14 |
Notes
- The arm's power dependency on the TITAN MK-V reactor is a critical narrative detail: events that deplete Draven's or Thrace's reactor also disable the arm entirely
- Thrace's original arm loss is referred to in backstory but the incident is not depicted in either manuscript
- The arm is visually distinctive, Thrace does not conceal it and it contributes to his imposing physical presence
