Helios Prime

Helios Prime

Description

Helios Prime is a frontier colony world whose name surfaces repeatedly as the site of a massacre in Draven's past. It was the scene of a Free Legion uprising, or what the Hegemony called one, where Draven led a Voidborn operation that burned a village of civilians: "farmers who had only wanted freedom." The Helios massacre is the defining moral wound Draven carries, and the Hive Mind uses it against him telepathically on Caliban Prime.

S'kaar is also listed as MIA from the Helios campaign and is presumed dead until he reappears as a Hybrid on Caliban Prime. This suggests Helios Prime may have been a site of early Swarm contact or Hybrid activity, not merely a Free Legion insurgency, though this is not confirmed in the text.

"Helios Station" is a distinct orbital or space station installation separate from the colony surface of Helios Prime, referenced by Draven as a prior battle site where the Swarm captured Orion fusion cores and integrated the technology into siege bioforms. (B2 Ch05)

Strategic Importance

  • Site of Draven's moral break: the Helios massacre establishes his growing disillusionment with the Hegemony.
  • Draven is publicly known as "the Hero of Helios", the massacre was dressed up as a military victory for propaganda. (B1 Ch18)
  • S'kaar's MIA status from Helios is the first link between his human identity and his Hybrid transformation. (B1 Ch06)
  • Helios Station: site of confirmed Swarm technology integration (fusion cores → siege bioforms). (B2 Ch05)

Known Areas / Sub-locations

  • Village (unnamed), Civilian settlement burned by Draven's Voidborn squad during the Helios campaign. (B1 Ch01, B1 Ch10)
  • Helios Station, A distinct orbital or space station installation associated with the Helios system, separate from the colony surface of Helios Prime. Site of a confirmed prior Swarm engagement: the Hive captured Orion fusion cores and integrated the technology into their siege bioforms. (B2 Ch05)

Inhabitants

  • Frontier colonists; farmers; Free Legion sympathisers.
  • Hegemony military garrison (implied).
  • [PROVISIONAL] Possible early Swarm presence given S'kaar's conversion.
